while lipa has many great sayings and quotes, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
i mean what the hell is that supposed to mean??
if he wants to say that his avoda is to be 'misameach' that's 1 thing.
But what does that have to do with comparing to those who are zoche to teach Torah?
"some people teach torah, i clean toilets , my tachlis is to make sure that people have clean toliets"
what shaiches?????

Ok, I'll explain to you what I think Lipa meant. Lipa was talking to all the people who bash and criticize him. These people raise an eyebrow when they hear of Lipa, or see him perform, or hear his music. They say "This doesn't pas (have the right attitude), this is not yiddishkite, this is Litzanus, this is lightheadedness. Why does this Lipa fellow make it seem that music and acting and entertainment is the Ikur (main thing) in life? Doesn't this Lipa guy know that Torah is the main thing? Doesn't he know that people should respect Torah authorities instead of him? Shouldn't Lipa focus more on Torah learning than entertainment?" To THESE people Lipa is saying "Some people are here to teach Torah and Lipa Schmeltzer is here to make people happy, that's why I am here. It's my Shlichus." Meaning: Please don't judge me so quickly, I know what the Ikur of life is, but not everyone is cut out to teach Torah, my path to Avodas Hashem is to make people happy and serve Hashem B'Simcha, in the right yiddisha way; to be proud to be a jew (see track 2 of "A Pasheta Yid"). Does the quote make more sense to you now?

not really. I think the comparison/contrast bet. him and those who teach torah is a little funny.
he could have even said my job isn't to teach torah, it's to be mesameach yidden, and that would have been more than enough.
Not that he is my barometer but i believe that mbd said an one of th ohel concerts some years back that the lubavitcher rebbe shlita told hem that he should be zoche to be mesameach yidden ad bias goel tzeddek b'miheira viyamenu.
he didn;t feel the need to compare to those who teach torah , or to toilet cleaners cause they are both irrelevant.
my intent is not to pick apart lipa or criticize what he says but just perhaps not every statement need be posted and savoured.
but once you are posting it like it's some great briliiance....

Obviously MBD didn't feel a need to compare himself to those who teach Torah because MBD has not been attacked as much as Lipa has and is being attacked. The attack is, that Lipa should be more Torahdig. Lipa is directly addressing these attacks by saying that it's not his job to teach Torah, but to be M'sameach, so stop attacking me.

You said:"he could have even said my job isn't to teach torah, it's to be mesameach yidden, and that would have been more than enough."
Well, isn't that exactly what the quote is saying?
"Some people are here to teach Torah and Lipa Schmeltzer is here to make people happy, that's why I am here. It's my Shlichus."
